Terms of Service

By accessing or using ChessCrumbs ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

ChessCrumbs is a chess training platform that helps you improve your opening play through:

• Game analysis to identify opening mistakes
• Spaced repetition drilling of problem positions
• Opening theory browsing and practice
• Integration with Chess.com and Lichess
• Progress tracking and statistics

The Service is provided "as is" and we continuously work to improve it.

To use ChessCrumbs, you must:

• Be at least 13 years old
• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

You may create an account using email/password or through Google or Facebook authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.

Premium subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. You may cancel at any time and retain access until the end of your billing period.

• Premium subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly basis
• Payments are processed securely through Stripe
• Prices are subject to change with 30 days notice
• No refunds for partial months after cancellation
• If you experience technical issues preventing use of Premium features, contact us for consideration of a refund

You agree not to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service
• Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
• Share your account credentials with others
• Upload malicious content or code
• Use the Service for any illegal purpose
• Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization

Our Content: The ChessCrumbs name, logo, website design, and original content are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our materials without permission.

Your Content: You retain ownership of your chess games and data. By using our Service, you grant us a license to process and store your data to provide the Service.

Third-Party Content: Chess opening theory data is compiled from publicly available sources. Stockfish is open-source software licensed under GPL.

ChessCrumbs integrates with third-party services:

• Chess.com & Lichess: For game imports (subject to their terms)
• Google & Facebook: For authentication (subject to their terms)
• Stripe: For payment processing (subject to their terms)

We are not responsible for the availability or practices of third-party services.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Accuracy of chess analysis or recommendations
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• That the Service will meet your specific requirements

Chess analysis is provided for educational purposes. We do not guarantee improvement in your chess rating or performance.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHESSCRUMBS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Loss of data or content
• Loss of profits or revenue
• Service interruptions
• Errors in chess analysis

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

By You: You may delete your account at any time through Settings. This permanently removes all your data.

By Us: We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
